Thank you for the unforgettable memories and the opportunity to be a part of something truly extraordinary.

Dear Wolverhampton & Tettenhall Hockey Club,

As I reflect on my time here, I am filled with immense gratitude and a tinge of sadness in leaving as I have been and remain extremely happy at this club, but find myself relocating for family reasons. For the past six seasons, it has been an absolute privilege to serve as a coach for this remarkable club. From the exhilarating victories to the challenging moments, every experience has left an indelible mark on my heart.

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest appreciation to the players. Your dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment have been the driving force behind our successes on the pitch. Whether it’s the ladies' or the men's teams, each of you has contributed invaluably to the spirit of camaraderie that defines our club.

To the club committee, thank you for your tireless efforts in ensuring the smooth operation of our beloved club. Your hard work behind the scenes often goes unnoticed, but it is the foundation upon which our achievements are built. Your support has been instrumental in my journey as a coach.

I must extend a special thanks to the Brooks’ family. Your contributions to the club, both big and small, have left an indelible impact not just on me but on the whole club. Your unwavering support and generosity have been a source of strength for me personally and professionally. I am deeply grateful for everything you have done.

A heartfelt appreciation goes out to Nirmal Singh. Your exceptional dedication and willingness to go above and beyond have not gone unnoticed. Your unwavering support has been invaluable, and I am truly grateful for your efforts.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my time at Wolverhampton & Tettenhall Hockey Club has been witnessing the incredible growth and development of our players, particularly individuals like Olly, Louis, Finn, and Paige. Watching them transition from promising juniors to outstanding 1st team players has been truly inspiring. Moreover, seeing numerous other juniors successfully make the leap to adult hockey has filled me with immense pride.

Reflecting on my journey, three highlights stand out prominently: clinching the league title undefeated with the ladies first team in my inaugural season, establishing a robust structure that has facilitated the flourishing of junior players within the men's 3rd team, and winning promotion with the men's first team this year. These moments symbolise the collective dedication, perseverance, and triumph that define our club's ethos.

As I prepare to bid farewell, I want to leave a note of encouragement for the men's first team. Your determination and resilience have propelled us to four promotions in six seasons, a testament to your talent and hard work. I have no doubt that you will continue to rise and showcase your capabilities wherever your journey takes you next. When the next coach is appointed they will find themselves with a squad which any coach would relish working with and that is is an incredibly exciting prospect.

It has been a true honor to be a part of this vibrant community. The memories we've shared, both on and off the field, will forever hold a special place in my heart. I will miss each and every one of you dearly.

Hockey is a small world so it is not goodbye, it is more of a “see you soon”. Thank you, Wolverhampton & Tettenhall Hockey Club, for the unforgettable memories and the opportunity to be a part of something truly extraordinary.

With warm regards,

Stephen Williams
